And in 1913 Founded Delta Sigma Theta.... Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13, 1913 by 22 dynamic divas on the prestigious, historical campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. These distinctive women of the Alpha Chapter excelled in promoting academic excellence while providing leadership and support to the community. Their first public act as a sorority was the Women's Suffrage March 1913. The original artwork is the masterpiece of Tarleton Blackwell
With over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Panama Canal, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Haiti, Liberia, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea, Delta women continue to participate in social, cultural, and political affairs of America and abroad.
